IWD2020 Spotlight on men supporting women as a force for social change
This International Women’s Day we decided it’s time to turn the notion of a ‘Male Pale Stale’ panel on it’s head showcasing men supporting women change makers who have a good grasp of Diversity, Knowledge, Connection & Compassion. So, on 9th March 2020, we’re inviting three panels of men from a range of industries and backgrounds to join us at this free event to discuss how, together, we can make this year’s International Women’s Day theme of “An Equal World is an Enabled World’ a reality.Kush Chottera is Executive director of Europia – a registered charity focusing on the development and integration of European Ex-pats since 2008.

What is your role/organisation?
The executive director of Europia and co-founder of Europia Art collective.
How diverse is your current leadership team – and/or what initiatives are in place that you support?
All of our leaders are women with the exception of our trustee’s board have only female leaders. as an organisation, we have staff embers of different sexuality, disability, mental health challenges and young children. I am proud to say that we provide flexibility and most important of all trust our team members to make mistakes and learn from their experiences in Europia’s paid time.
We are acting as an incubator organisation to develop these three independent projects:
- Europia Art Collective – lead by a young Lithuanian National Ruta S
- Europia Women’s Group – lead by a Polish Mum and entrepreneur Marlena W
- Europia Roma voices – Lead by mum of five Romana who is from the Roma Gypsy community from Romania.
Also, our core projects are
- Europia Support – AAIG, Legal Support and EUSS and Policy and influence work
- Europia Health and Wellbeing – research, over 50’s groups (Polish and Lithuanian), green patch, Community events, and cultural events
What career advice would you give your younger self?
- Continue to invest in people and developing organic relationships
- Developing an effective team is a sustainable recipe for success
