Do you know a woman who could benefit from support starting or developing a venture? Our next Time to Grow Programme will support women as a force for social change in Wigan and Greater Manchester.
Do you know a woman who needs some support to unlock her potential?
We are returning to Wigan for our fourth ‘Time to Grow’ programme – in partnership with Meyrick Street Centre. The programme will run from January – April 2022 and will support women with enterprising solutions to social issues. With our programme of training, network building and support we will help participants tackle inequality, unlock potential and create sustainable change.
We have spaces for around 25 women who will go on a journey of self-discovery and build positive connections in their communities. Plus there will be a range of peer-learning events in which they will connect with other change-makers and increase their potential to make change.
We’re looking for women who may be…
- Developing or scaling a social enterprise, community organisation or local project who need some focussed time and support to help achieve their ambitions
- Volunteering their socks off but looking for support to gain an income, create an enterprise and create longer term sustainability and security
- Taking a career break or juggling family life but thinking about what they might do next and want to do something flexible with real purpose
- Struggling to find the right employment to adapt to the current climate or to fit around their lifestyle and community needs
We’re looking for women who just need time to think, unlock their potential and be in a nurturing environment that will help them work out their passions and create manageable ways to turn these into a reality. Whether they are developing ideas, or running an organisation / enterprise already, our programme of support, training, peer learning and connection-building will help them progress and create positive, sustainable action.
What is on offer and what is the time commitment?
We have designed the course to be flexible and meet different women’s needs, interests and availability. We will run virtual inspiration information between October and December to enable you to share and refine your ideas, see if this programme is for you, plus make connections with other women creating social change.
The social enterprise development support programme will be 8 days running from January-April 2022. This course culminates in a ‘Mentor-a-thon’ to celebrate, share and build wider connections to other social change-makers and support agencies. There will also be the opportunity to pitch for funding and support at our mentoring marathon.

JANUARY 2022: There will be a couple of Discovery Days to bring social entrepreneurs, community change-makers and wider potential programme participants together to inform and inspire people about the possibilities and the style of the programme. Participants will get to know one another and start to learn more about their ideas for social change and ways to progress these, plus some in depth personal reflection to overcome challenges and barriers to making progress.
FEBRUARY – APRIL 2022: There will be regular training, action learning and support sessions to support the development of ideas, projects, businesses, campaigns and organisations. We will help people test, start and scale ideas, opportunities and ventures, which create a positive impact on the local area in a sustainable way. These will be a mixture of physical meetings and virtual meetings/ sessions via Zoom.
FEBRUARY – APRIL 2022: One-to-one coaching, support and signposting from a social enterprise development coach to help you reflect on their wants, needs and opportunities, take time to consider where your ‘next chapter’ might lead and help social enterprise ideas and ventures to develop as well as broker opportunities for mentoring, funding and more.
APRIL 2021: We will hold a mentoring day where participants can gain broader support, connections and feedback around their ideas and ventures through ‘sounding board’ sessions, as well as pitch for small cash grants and support to further enterprising solutions to social issues.
